The colors that are used around these characters are bright and happy giving you a warm and content feeling. This mother, son, and their dog Victoria went for a walk in the park this is the opening scene. I find it interesting that on the page where the more sophisticated mother is yelling for Charles, her son, the text says you get some frightful types in the park these days because she is quite frightful to me in this picture. These are characters that have human qualities but animal heads. This story has what is called zoomorphic characters in it. Browne presents each voice in a different text font.

All four voices are presented in sequence but they are all talking about one event that happened. I would classify this book as a type two radical change book based on these qualifications. (Dresang, 1999) Multiple perspectives can be evidenced through multiple voices in one book. Doonan, 1999 says the setting in this book functions as a reflection of the attitude of each character. There are four characters (voices) that are portrayed in this story and Browne uses text font, vocabulary, color and illustrations to reveal more about each one of them. This story includes many metafiction devices such as the events are non sequential and there are multiple stories and perspectives in the text (Pantaleo, 2004). Voices In The Park by Anthony Browne was definitely not like any other picture book that I have read before.
